KRONBERG. Proof of good young talent work: three trainees from the Schlosshotel Kronberg achieved top placings at the DEHOGA Hessen Championships on 19 March. Lea Eckhardt took first place in the restaurant and event catering specialist category, while Alina Merting came third. Amelie Dietle secured fourth place in the chef category. After last year's championships were held at the GIBSON Club in Frankfurt am Main, this year's event took place at Kloster Eberbach in Eltville am Rhein.

<p>The Hesse Championships in the training professions of chef, restaurant & event catering specialist and hotel specialist have been a flagship event for the Hessian hospitality industry for over 35 years and give trainees in the sector the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. All trainees in the described professions who are in their second or third year of training and are no more than 27 years old are eligible to take part.  In addition to high-quality prizes, the high-profile event offers participants the chance to gain valuable experience and add a highlight to their CV. The procedure for the championships is always the same: after a virtual preliminary round, the 18 best trainees are invited to the prestigious practical competition. This is divided into a written and a practical part, which includes various job-specific tasks. For example, budding chefs have to prepare a menu from soup to dessert, while future hotel managers have to demonstrate their skills at work at reception. Participants in the restaurant apprenticeship programme, on the other hand, have to set tables and serve food. The best placed will qualify for training in preparation for the German championships in October.
